It's not usual to see the whole herd lying down together. They often have two or three standing close by on sentry duty.
It has been very windy here the last few days and this morning is still and calm. The horses seem to feel much safer in this smaller summer field and so obviously didn't feel the need, this morning, to have someone keeping watch. Alfie and Dusty were also lying down but I couldn't get them in the same shot without waking everyone up.
